The family of late Evangelist Mrs. Rosemary Oromoni, mother of Sylvester Oromoni Jr., has released details of her burial arrangements. Mrs. Oromoni sadly passed away almost three years after the tragic death of her son, the Dowen College student whose untimely death in 2021 shook the nation.
According to the family, a night of tribute will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at their family compound located at No. 8 Edah Street, Kumagba Estate, Warri, Delta State. Her funeral service and burial will take place on Saturday, August 9, 2025, in Ogbe-Ijoh Town, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, followed by a reception at the family residence.
Mrs. Oromoni was said to have battled with depression and high blood pressure following the heartbreaking loss of her son, Sylvester Jr., who reportedly died after being bullied and allegedly forced to ingest harmful substances by some senior students at Dowen College, Lagos. While the school claimed he sustained injuries from a football accident, the story sparked massive outrage across the country, with many demanding justice.
The family had postponed Sylvester’s burial for over two years, holding on to hope for justice. He was finally laid to rest in January 2024. Sadly, Mrs. Oromoni never fully recovered from the emotional trauma, and she passed away on November 25, 2024, at the age of 57.
Friends, family, sympathizers, and members of the community are expected to gather in August to bid farewell to a woman many described as prayerful, peaceful, and deeply committed to her family.
