Popular social media commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM) has thrown his weight behind former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello ahead of the anticipated contest for the Kogi Central Senate seat, where Bello is expected to face incumbent senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, VDM argued that Bello has matured as a leader despite past controversies and allegations, including scrutiny by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He described Bello as someone who has learned from past mistakes and deserves another opportunity in public office.
“In light of what happened in the past, the controversy, the accusations by the EFCC, and criticisms from some Nigerians, I see a true leader who has worked on his flaws and, over time, has become a better man. Everybody deserves a second chance,” he wrote.
VDM said this belief informed his decision to support Bello’s senatorial ambition, insisting the former governor should be given the chance to prove himself again.
He also criticised Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, claiming she lacks the experience and leadership qualities required for the role. According to him, her style of politics is too emotional, a comment that has since sparked controversy.
VDM concluded his post with an emphatic endorsement of Bello’s campaign, declaring:
“GOD BLESS YAHAYA BELLO, INCOMING 2027! SAI YAHAYA BELLO, SAI 2027!”
The endorsement has generated mixed reactions online, with supporters applauding Bello’s record in office, while critics condemned the tone of VDM’s remarks about his opponent.
