- General Oluyede has defended the military’s approach to counterterrorism, saying insurgents should be given a chance to repent, sparking debate.
- He noted that allowing insurgents the opportunity to surrender can sometimes lead to better outcomes, including reduced violence and intelligence gathering.

The Chief of Army Defence Staff, General Oluyede, has sparked debate after explaining why terrorists are not always immediately killed during military operations.
Speaking during a briefing on Tuesday, he said the Nigerian military balances force with moral and strategic considerations when dealing with insurgents.
“People are asking why we are not killing terrorists even if they have killed others. Well, even in the Bible, the prodigal son was given a chance, so we should give terrorists a chance to repent,” he said.
“Our soldiers are trained to protect lives while neutralising threats. It is not about being weak; it is about combining force with strategy and humanity.”
He noted that allowing insurgents the opportunity to surrender can sometimes lead to better outcomes, including reduced violence and intelligence gathering.
In other news….Self-proclaimed advocate for the girl child, Sarah Idaji Ojone, popularly known as Saida BOJ, has once again criticized relationship coach Blessing Okoro, widely called Blessing CEO, over her recent claims of illness.
Blessing CEO had shared an emotional video a few days ago, revealing that she was undergoing treatment for stage four cancer. She mentioned having spent a substantial amount of money on her care and appealed to her followers for donations to fund her surgery before the disease could progress further.
Saida BOJ expressed skepticism about these claims, cautioning fans against taking Blessing CEO’s statements at face value. The two have had ongoing disagreements online, and this latest incident has fueled further exchanges between them.
In a video response, Saida BOJ questioned how Blessing CEO could focus on confronting her online while supposedly battling a serious illness. She suggested that someone dealing with stage four cancer would likely not have the energy for online conflicts. Playfully, she added that Blessing CEO’s recovery seemed rapid enough that she might still have time to target her.
Saida BOJ also noted that she did not expect Blessing CEO to change her behavior anytime soon. This came after Blessing CEO indicated that she planned to watch Saida BOJ’s video and respond once she had recovered, emphasizing that even if it took months, she would retaliate for being mocked.
Fans of both influencers weighed in, with many advising Blessing CEO to prioritize her health over planning a response. Others referred to Saida BOJ as a “weapon” deliberately used against the relationship coach.
