Popular Nollywood actress Empress Njamah has stirred social media with a viral video showing her politely rejecting a public marriage proposal from a close male friend.
The emotional moment, shared on her Instagram page, captured the man going down on one knee and declaring that she was an answer to his prayers.
“I prayed to God and He answered me and brought you my way. Will you marry me?” he said, as friends and family watched on.
Empress, visibly moved by the gesture, responded with grace but made it clear she wasn’t interested in taking the relationship further.
“I am so emotional right now, but I have to speak. You actually omitted the fact that you threw this in front of your friends and family. I respect them so much, and I am overwhelmed. I didn’t expect that it would happen so soon. Coming from the king of Abuja, for you to go on your knees, to do this for me and at the end of the day, I said I am not interested”.
In her caption, Empress explained that she values the friendship too deeply to risk turning it into a romantic relationship. Emphasizing that “friends don’t marry friends,” she stated that they were better off remaining close companions rather than lovers.
