
The Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, has died at the age of 71 after a prolonged illness.
He passed away on Friday, July 25, in Abuja.
Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal expressed deep sorrow, describing the Emir as a dependable royal father and a dedicated leader who worked for the state’s progress.
“I received with profound sadness the news of the passing of our father, His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Zamfara State Council of Chiefs, the Emir’s family, the Gusau Emirate, and the people of the state,” the governor said.
Governor Lawal praised the Emir’s 10 years of devoted service, citing his strong leadership, dedication, and spiritual guidance.
Governor Lawal added, “His passing is a tremendous loss not just to Zamfara but to Northern Nigeria and the country at large. I have lost a father and a trusted advisor whose wisdom and guidance were invaluable.”
He prayed for the Emir’s forgiveness and eternal rest, saying, “May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus.”
Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the 16th Emir of Gusau, ascended the throne in 2015 after his father’s passing. A veteran civil servant, he served as Permanent Secretary in Sokoto and Zamfara before becoming Emir, a role he held for 10 years.
