- Elon Musk admitted on his X social media platform that his recent comments about Trump may have crossed a line.

Elon Musk, the billionaire tech mogul and former adviser to Donald Trump, has publicly expressed regret over his recent criticism of the former U.S. president. The apology came after a heated exchange between the two last week regarding a controversial spending bill.
Using his platform, X, Musk admitted on Wednesday that he may have gone too far in his recent remarks.
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Elon Musk wrote.
The comments follow a warning from Trump, who accused Musk of being “disrespectful” and hinted at potential “serious consequences” if Musk moves forward with rumored plans to fund primary challenges against Republican lawmakers who support the spending bill.
The clash began after Musk publicly condemned the spending package nicknamed Trump’s “big, beautiful” bill which is currently under debate in Congress and has stirred division within the Republican Party.
Reports suggested that several conservative lawmakers who oppose the bill approached Musk for financial backing to help unseat GOP colleagues who vote in favor of it. Musk, a major donor to the Republican Party during the last election cycle, was reportedly considering their request.
Trump, speaking to NBC News over the weekend, fired back at Musk’s involvement, warning him against undermining Republican unity.
Though Musk’s latest statement signals a possible de-escalation, the fallout from their disagreement has already drawn widespread attention across political and tech spheres alike.
