Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has joined ongoing protests demanding the real-time transmission of election results in Nigeria.
The protest, tagged “Occupy National Assembly,” saw Nigerian youths converge in Abuja on Monday to express their opposition to the Senate’s rejection of electronic transmission of election results. The demonstrators insist that real-time result transmission is crucial for transparent and credible elections.
Earlier, former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was also seen at the protest ground, lending his voice to the call for electoral transparency.
The protest continues to gain momentum as more political figures and activists join citizens in demanding reforms to Nigeria’s electoral process.
