The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a stern warning to Nigerians over a worrying new development among internet fraudsters, commonly known as “Yahoo Boys.”

In a statement shared on its official X handle on Friday, October 17, the anti-graft agency raised alarm that many fraudsters, now referred to as “G Boys,” have resorted to spiritual and ritual practices to enhance their fraudulent activities.

According to the EFCC, what was once a purely digital form of crime has now taken on “spiritual and ritual dimensions.” The agency expressed concern over the increasing number of young people turning to such practices in their desperate pursuit of quick wealth.

The commission stated: “G Boys are now going spiritual involving themselves in ritual and making it the new usual. EFCC will come for any individual then, it won’t be business as usual.”

It further assured the public that the EFCC is fully aware of these developments and remains committed to bringing offenders to justice.

Reiterating its zero-tolerance stance on financial and cybercrimes, the EFCC warned that no form of “spiritual backing or ritual practice” would shield perpetrators from facing the consequences of their actions.

The agency also reaffirmed its dedication to protecting Nigerian society from the growing menace of cybercrime and its evolving methods.
