Edo Governor Warns Peter Obi: No Entry Without Security Clearance

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has issued a firm warning to Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stating that he must obtain official security clearance before making any future visits to the state.

This follows Obi’s recent visit to Benin City on July 7, where he donated ₦15 million to St. Philomena Hospital School of Nursing Sciences. Governor Okpebholo linked the visit to a spike in violence, alleging that three people were killed shortly after Obi left the city.

“Peter Obi, the man who says he doesn’t have ‘shishi,’ came here and dropped ₦15 million. Where did that money come from? Not long after he left, three people were killed. Because of this, he must not visit Edo without security clearance,” Okpebholo said.

The governor stressed that Obi’s safety cannot be guaranteed without proper notification to the state government. He described the timing of Obi’s visit as suspicious and made it clear that such unscheduled appearances would no longer be accepted in Edo State.
