Nigerian music star Kcee and businessman Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, have continued their community development efforts in Amamputu, Uli, by flagging off the construction of a new health centre.
The project comes shortly after the completion of a village road in the community, further underscoring their commitment to improving infrastructure in their hometown.
The proposed health centre reconstruction is designed as an ultra-modern facility intended to serve the five kindreds that make up Amamputu. For years, the village has reportedly been without a functional health centre. Residents recall that the last time the facility was operational was during the tenure of Peter Obi, after which it fell into disuse.
In addition to launching the health centre project, KCEE and E-Money distributed 200 bags of 25kg rice to villagers as part of their outreach. They also provided financial support to several residents to help strengthen and expand their small businesses.
Nigerian skit maker and singer Carter Efe has opened up about why he no longer attends church, citing distrust of some pastors.
In a viral clip making the rounds online, the entertainer claimed that certain religious leaders form close relationships with church members and later begin to request financial assistance for personal needs.
Explaining his fears, he said:
“Pastor go dey show you love dey call you for afternoon and evening. Before you know pastor go dey tell you say ‘can you give me money for fuel?’ before you know pastor go tell you say ‘i want to cook beans, I need oil’. Before you know pastor go dey collect money for your hand na why I dey fear. Na why I no dey go church. I dey fear all this pastors, if them turn you to friend, them go just dey collect money for your hand…”
His remarks quickly sparked mixed reactions on social media. While some users agreed with his concerns, others criticized him for generalizing religious leaders.
One user, @sasmanic, wrote: “They will bill you till you get broke, just live in abroad or have money, then this Naija pastor will open shop for your head , the broke members will argue on the comments.”
Another, @BIG_DINERO37, remarked: “Abii na to Open Church, Mosque and Shrine de collect Money and Goat Small small.”
