Tokunbo Talabi, the Secretary to the Ogun State Government (SSG), has reportedly been invited by the Department of State Services (DSS) to appear before it for questioning regarding recent fraud allegations made against him.
The PUNCH was informed by a source that the accusations against him were the reason for the invitation and subsequent over five-hour interrogation on Friday.
Talabi, who was freed on self-recognition, was interrogated on Friday at 6:55 p.m. at the DSS’s Ogun State Command Headquarters in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Superflux Printing Limited allegedly connected to Talabi, which is based on Acme Road in Ikeja, Lagos State, has recently come under intense scrutiny.
According to The PUNCH, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Mike Ozekhome petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Code of Conduct Bureau, and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission for a thorough investigation into the connection between the Independent National Electoral Commission and a printing business that was allegedly Talabi’s during the previous elections.
But the source claimed that the agency interrogated the SSG regarding a petition Talabi himself had made regarding the allegations.
According to the source, the DSS launched the investigation to determine whether certain accusations made against Talabi, including those involving the printing of ballots, were true.
The source added that the alleged involvement of Superflux Printing Limited in the Covid-19 palliative controversy was one of the topics covered during the questioning.
The DSS is alleged to have questioned Talabi about the company’s involvement with sizable sums of money connected to Ogun State and its role in the 2023 elections.
It was learned that the allegations caused some people to worry about how they might affect how credible the upcoming elections might be.
However, the source reassured the general public that the command was committed to conducting a meticulous and in-depth investigation. The source also stated that the agency sought to sort through the intricate web of allegations surrounding Talabi and his affiliation with Superflux Printing Limited.
