Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has criticised the detention of businessman Linus Williams Ifejirika, popularly known as B-Lord, who is currently being held at Kuje prison over allegations involving social media critic Martins Otse.
Sowore condemned the idea of celebrating anyone’s imprisonment, stating that he had instructed his lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, to step away from the case. He also expressed his intention to work towards securing B-Lord’s release.
Reports indicate that B-Lord is facing multiple charges, including impersonation, forgery, and conspiracy. The allegations stem from claims that he used VeryDarkMan’s identity such as his name and image without permission for promotional materials, including billboards and fabricated event tickets.
Following these accusations, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered that the businessman be remanded in Kuje prison for 26 days.
Sowore warned that situations like this could set a dangerous precedent, suggesting that the legal system might be misused against ordinary citizens.
The legal dispute between VeryDarkMan and B-Lord is unfolding against the backdrop of an ongoing public clash between both figures, which has continued to generate significant reactions online.
