Human rights activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has sparked fresh political debate following strong remarks directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Adeyanju criticised the current administration while drawing comparisons with Nigeria’s past leadership. Referencing former President Muhammadu Buhari, he stated:

“Buhari who overthrew a democratically elected govt didn’t kill opposition and democracy from 2015–2019 but ex NADECO activist does not want any opposition in the country.”

He further alleged that the president is seeking to dominate the political space ahead of the next election cycle.

“He wants to go unopposed in 2027,” Adeyanju added.

In a more strongly worded statement, the activist warned about the potential consequences of such an approach to governance.

“Tinubu will eventually burn down this country if he continues this way,” he said.

Adeyanju’s comments have since generated widespread reactions online, with supporters and critics debating his claims and the broader state of Nigeria’s democracy.

While some users agreed with his concerns about political space and opposition, others argued that his remarks were exaggerated and politically motivated.

“I will forgive BLord tonight and withdraw the case if you accept my conditions,” he said.

Responding, Deji Adeyanju questioned the terms, noting his prior efforts to mediate on BLord’s behalf.

“What are the conditions? You know I have been begging on his behalf,” Adeyanju asked.

VeryDarkMan then revealed his demand, which has since generated widespread reactions online.

“I want you to go online and shout, ‘I love APC and I love President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.’ But someone like that is not supposed to witness the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” he added.

The statement has drawn mixed reactions from Nigerians, with some describing it as humorous or unserious, while others criticised the introduction of political and religious references into the matter.
