Former Big Brother Naija star, Aderombi Adedayo Martin, popularly known as Deeone, has weighed in on a recent video posted by social commentator Martins Vincent Otse, better known as Verydarkman (VDM).
VDM, who is currently in Edo State, had shared a clip disclosing the amount he spent on hotel accommodation in Auchi while working on a project linked to his NGO.
Reacting to the video, Deeone faulted the activist for what he described as reckless spending of donations from struggling Nigerians. He sarcastically compared the hotel bill, which he claimed totaled ₦1,085,000, to the cost of building a duplex with a swimming pool.
The comedian further argued that even the largest event centre in Auchi wouldn’t cost as much as the hotel VDM lodged in. He also questioned whether there was a Hilton hotel in the town that could justify such an amount, especially since VDM admitted that the figure did not cover all his expenses in Edo State.
Deeone didn’t stop there he dragged some of VDM’s high-profile supporters into the matter. He criticized singer Davido for not keeping an eye on his friends, despite standing up for VDM during his clash with the EFCC, urging him instead to caution the activist against mismanaging public donations.
He also mentioned music executive Don Jazzy, who had previously donated generously to VDM’s NGO. Deeone alleged that VDM misled Nigerians by claiming to fund a road project in Auchi when, according to him, the work was actually carried out by Apostle Johnson Suleiman.
Going further, the comedian accused VDM of demanding an additional ₦7 million from the NGO’s purse after already spending heavily on hotel bills, as well as withdrawing another ₦3 million from the account.
It is important to note that both men have a strained relationship. Last year, Deeone accused VDM and his followers of being behind the loss of his social media page.
