Afrobeats star David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has sparked mixed reactions online following a comment he made while reacting to a video involving popular streamer IShowSpeed.
IShowSpeed recently visited Nigeria, where he received a warm welcome from fans, although content creator Peller was reportedly unable to meet him during the trip.
Taking to his Instagram story, Davido reposted a clip showing several women giving IShowSpeed a massage during his stay in Ghana. In the video, the streamer appeared relaxed and amused as the women smiled for the camera.
Commenting on the footage, Davido jokingly asked his wife to allow him to be treated in a similar manner, noting that the scene took place in Ghana.
The post triggered backlash from some fans, who referenced the Anu Adeleke controversy and recalled the press conference Davido’s father had previously addressed over the matter. Some critics questioned whether the singer wanted to spark another public situation that could require family intervention.
Others, however, defended the singer, suggesting he was simply teasing his wife and would not have made such a request publicly if he meant it seriously. A number of supporters also argued that after spending a long time on tour, Davido deserved some relaxation to ease the stress of constant travel.
It will be recalled that Davido’s father once addressed the media amid public exchanges surrounding allegations about the singer having a daughter.
