Davido Joins Recording Academy Committee Set To Vote At 2026 Grammys

• Afrobeats artist Davido, also known as David Adedeji Adeleke, has joined the Grammy committee of the Recording Academy.

Afrobeats superstar Davido, whose real name is David Adedeji Adeleke, has officially joined the Recording Academy’s Grammy committee.

The Recording Academy announced the news on Tuesday, September 23, sharing a video on its social media platforms that featured Davido alongside U.S. rapper Offset, drummer Stewart Copeland, and other new members expressing their excitement.

In the clip, the DMW label boss highlighted how meaningful it is to take part in the Grammy Awards process, calling it “a game changer.” He explained that being able to vote gives artists a direct voice in determining which projects receive recognition each year.

“The importance of how our voices are heard and participating in the Grammy Awards is a game changer. I’ve learned how voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on each award season. I am honoured to be part of the Recording Academy community and I look forward to voting,” Davido said.

According to the Academy, voting for the 2026 Grammy Awards will begin in less than two weeks.

Although Davido has yet to secure a Grammy win, he has earned four nominations so far. At the 66th Grammy Awards in 2024, he received nods for Best Global Music Album (Timeless), Best African Music Performance (Unavailable featuring Musa Keys), and Best Global Music Performance (Feel).

He added a fourth nomination in 2025 for Best African Music Performance with “Sensational,” his collaboration with Chris Brown and Lojay, but lost to Tems’ “Love Me Jeje.”
