- Davido sparked controversy with a tweet intended to show support during anti-tax protests in Kenya.
- The tweet was posted on June 26, 2025, coinciding with widespread demonstrations in the country.
- Instead of fostering goodwill, the message led to heated online debates and mixed reactions from the public.

Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has landed in the midst of heated online debates following a tweet that was meant to show support but instead stirred controversy.
On Wednesday, June 26, 2025, as Kenya experienced widespread anti-tax demonstrations, Davido took to X (formerly Twitter) to send a message of goodwill:
“Peace and love to Kenya”
Although some users appreciated the sentiment as a show of solidarity, not everyone was impressed. A social media user with the handle Biggest Mack lashed out at the singer, accusing him of hypocrisy.
The critic claimed that while Kenyan youths were courageously challenging government corruption, Davido was benefiting from close ties with Nigerian political elites. The user referenced Davido’s well-known family connections to Nigeria’s power structure, including ties to the current president.
The post read in part:
“Peace and love to Kenya? Youths are fighting for change, yet you’re dining with Nigeria’s president your father and uncle included just to protect your family’s interests. Shame on you!”
The remark quickly went viral, sparking a wave of reactions. While some defended Davido, others echoed the criticism, igniting a broader discussion about celebrity involvement in politics and social justice.

@SoloJah1:“This is funny. You expect the rich to start the revolution for you? The bad country favours them. When Nigerians are ready, we’ll stop expecting celebs to lead protests.”
@Nightmarichy:“If Nigeria worked, there wouldn’t be 30BG or FC armies always online to defend mediocrity. The elite are benefitting from the rot, simple.”
@OzunuGustavo:“Davido posted peace and love — you posted bitterness. Must be hard watching someone successful while you rot in your irrelevant corner tweeting like a bitter ex. Touch grass.”
@Harkinola8:“His uncle almost finished a term, and they can’t point to one achievement. They use PR to cover nonsense. Adeleke is the worst governor right now.”
