Popular Nigerian artist, Davido, has subtly hinted at the possibility of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speculations about Governor Adeleke’s potential switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC have been circulating, especially with the 2026 Osun gubernatorial election on the horizon.
These rumors gained traction after a private visit last month, during which Davido and Governor Adeleke met with President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence.
Fueling the speculation, Davido released a new track titled “From Umbrella to Broom” a symbolic phrase referencing a transition from the PDP (symbolized by an umbrella) to the APC (represented by a broom).
In the song, the singer suggests that the potential political realignment is aimed at fostering progress in Osun State, stating that joining the APC could bring positive change and development to the region.
Davido in the song said, “New broom go sweep better. Ẹtan abẹla si ìjọba wa. From umbrella to the broom. Adegbe adafa, alagbada alefa.
“Eyan marun, mefa, kilode ta n suffer. New broom go sweep better. Them tori us propaganda from January to December we no gbadun NEPA. So all of our youths wan go America,” meaning (why are we suffering when the new broom can sweep better).
