Court orders DNA test on late singer’s son, Liam

  • A magistrate court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has ordered Liam Aloba, son of the late musician Mohbad, to undergo DNA testing.
  • The order, issued by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga following an application by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, permits the Chief Medical Officer or Pathologist at the Military Hospital, Yaba, to collect necessary samples.
  • Mohbad’s attorney stated the test is crucial for the child’s welfare and the mother’s maintenance.

On Tuesday, September 1st, a magistrate court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, ruled that Liam Aloba, the son of the late musician Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad, undergo a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test.

The order was issued by Adefisoye Sonuga, the sitting magistrate, after Joseph Aloba, the singer’s father, applied for a paternity test to establish his grandson’s paternity.

At the Military Hospital in Yaba, Lagos, where Mohbad’s remains are housed, the order also gives the Chief Medical Officer or Pathologist permission to take tissue, hair, or any samples that are required for the test.

Augustine Adegbemi, the artist’s attorney, claimed on behalf of the singer that paternity must be clarified since it affects the welfare of the kid and the mother’s maintenance responsibilities.

The court granted the injunction as asked since Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, Mohbad’s widow, and her attorney, Kabir Akingbolu, did not object to the motion.

In the meanwhile, the court issued the following orders: He must perform two (2) DNA tests in a hospital that is recognized and certified in Nigeria and abroad.

When taking the sample, both parties or their representatives should be present.

The hearings were later postponed to November 11, 2025, nevertheless.
