Popular Nigerian comedian Bovi has reacted to the recent arrest of TikTok personality Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller.
Peller was reportedly taken into police custody on Tuesday, December 16, after an incident that followed a breakup with his girlfriend, Jarvis. The situation quickly gained widespread attention online, sparking mixed reactions from the public.
In a video posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Bovi highlighted that, under Nigerian law, attempting to take one’s own life is considered a criminal offence. He explained that the law makes such actions punishable and may attract a jail term of up to one year if a person is found guilty.
Earlier, the Nigerian police confirmed the arrest of a content creator linked to the incident, stating that the individual was being held while investigations were ongoing. Although authorities did not initially disclose the suspect’s identity, reports from multiple sources later connected the arrest to Peller, a social media figure known for his dramatic content and strong youth following.
Further reports suggested the arrest was connected to concerns about Peller’s safety following the breakup, prompting police intervention as part of their ongoing investigation.
