The recent renaming of streets and bus stops in Lagos’ Bariga area has stirred conversations online, following a viral video of a bus conductor still using one of the old names.
GistLover previously reported that Kolade David, the outgoing chairman of the Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA), announced that several streets, roads, and bus stops were being renamed to honour notable individuals who have shaped the area’s identity and reputation.
Among the changes, Charly Boy Bus Stop was renamed Baddo Bus Stop in recognition of music star Olamide ‘Baddo’ Adedeji. Other honourees include music legends King Sunny Ade, 9ice, Tony Tetuila, and Arsenal footballer Bukayo Saka.
Despite the official changes, a trending video captured a bus conductor calling the newly named Baddo Bus Stop by its former name, “Charly Boy.” The clip also shows a puzzled passenger questioning him about the change, seemingly catching the conductor off guard.
The humorous moment has since gained traction on social media, with many Lagosians reacting to the conductor’s slip.
