The Supreme Court has upheld Bala Mohammed’s election as governor of Bauchi State.
Sadique Abubakar, the All Progressives Congress candidate for governor of the state, attempted to remove Mohammed from office in two lower courts, but his attempts were unsuccessful.
Abubakar had claimed in both courts that there had been widespread violations of the Electoral Act during the voting.
His appeal at the appellate court and petition at the tribunal were both denied due to lack of merit.
According to the rulings of the two courts, he was unable to provide proof that his claims were true.
Justice Ibrahim Saulawa dismissed the appeal as without merit after ruling on all six of the appellant’s arguments in the lead opinion on Friday.
