Nigerian billionaire Keji Giwa has sparked discussions online after describing himself as a “walking red flag” in the context of relationships and marriage.
In a candid chat, Giwa opened up about his personal life and why his single status often raises questions among those who meet him.
Approaching 50, the businessman acknowledged that his long-term bachelorhood can naturally be seen as a warning signal in the dating world.
“I am single, almost 50… I would be surprised if you don’t consider me a red flag,” he admitted.
He playfully referred to himself as a “walking red flag,” pointing out that many people assume there must be a reason a man of his age remains unmarried.
Giwa noted that societal expectations in Nigeria place considerable pressure on men to marry by a certain age, which can make remaining single appear unusual even for highly successful individuals.
The billionaire also discussed relationships between older wealthy men and younger partners, suggesting that financial security often drives attraction more than genuine emotional connection.
“The attraction is not that he’s good-looking. The attraction is some level of security,” he explained, adding that relationships built primarily on money are prone to disappointment once reality sets in.
He highlighted that wealth can sometimes create misleading impressions. Some women initially assume he enjoys a glamorous lifestyle, only to discover that appearances can be deceiving.
“Some women get to know me properly and realize that not all glitter is gold,” he said.
Giwa concluded by warning that in modern dating, one of the biggest red flags is being drawn in by the illusion of wealth.
“One of the walking red flags is the illusion that he has money when he doesn’t,” he added.
