Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable or Zazu, has reacted to the tragic killings in Benue State by offering strong advice to online critic and activist, Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan.

In a video posted on Thursday, June 19, Portable voiced concern for VeryDarkMan’s safety, urging him to consider hiring security personnel as he continues his outspoken advocacy for the people of Benue. This comes after VeryDarkMan was seen at the site of the violent attacks and addressing protesters in several viral clips.

In his message, Portable subtly criticized legendary singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, accusing him of seeking affection while his home state, Benue, is under siege. The “Zazu” crooner also encouraged celebrities across Nigeria to actively speak out on issues affecting their native states.

This follows a recent video by 2Baba, in which he, alongside his wife and Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru, appealed to both state and federal authorities to act urgently on the killings.

Portable’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions, particularly his indirect jab at 2Baba, whom he seemed to call out for not doing enough.
