Benue Govt Cleans Makurdi Overnight Ahead of Tinubu’s Visit Invites Support Groups for Warm Welcome

Ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s June 18 visit to Benue State, the government declared a public holiday and hired workers to clean major roads in Makurdi overnight.

Support groups were also invited to stage a colourful procession from the airport to the Government House.

The visit follows the killing of over 200 people by armed herdsmen between June 13 and 14. While preparations are underway, many have criticised the government’s focus on appearances rather than addressing the persistent violence in the state.
