Bashir Ahmad Calls for Probe, Arrest of US Missionary, Alex Barbir Over Comments on Plateau Attacks

  • Bashir Ahmad has called for the investigation and possible arrest of US missionary Alex Barbir after his video criticising President Tinubu over Plateau attacks.

Former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has called for the investigation and possible arrest of a United States-based missionary, Alex Barbir, following a controversial video he shared online.

The development comes hours after Barbir posted a video criticising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over fresh attacks in Plateau State.

Reports indicate that more than 10 persons were killed when gunmen attacked Anguwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area on Sunday, March 29.

In the video, Barbir accused the Nigerian government of failing to address insecurity and protect Christian communities, alleging that the President had not done enough to end the violence.

Reacting, Ahmad alleged that the missionary’s actions could incite unrest.

He stated that Barbir has been moving around openly, “spreading hate and attempting to incite violence against Nigerians of diverse backgrounds.”

Ahmad further called on relevant authorities to act swiftly.

He urged them to “take swift and lawful steps to investigate, apprehend, where necessary and ensure accountability to safeguard peace, unity and public order.”

The disclosure came during a conversation with the cleric shortly after earlier claims suggested she had remained “undefiled” despite receiving multiple marriage proposals.

Explaining her decision to go ahead with the marriage, the woman said she was spiritually led.

“It was about three days ago; I wanted to sleep, but the Spirit of God woke me up and told me to go and fulfil what He asked me to do,” she said.

“I am a beautiful woman. People have been coming for my hand in marriage, but I told Dr. Jesus my body is for Him, and I will not defile it until He gives me my husband. If He gives me, I will serve Him.”

Describing her action as a sacrifice of faith, she said she was prepared for public reactions.

“This young man is a child of God, an adopted son of our daddy Jio. When God told me, I followed the Spirit, and I told daddy I will marry him, care for him as a son, as my king, as a husband, as a brother, because I know people will speak against it. But I am after what the Lord Jesus sent me to do.”

However, during a follow-up interaction, Chibuzor Gift Chinyere said he had received messages questioning her earlier claims about her purity and sought clarification.

When asked directly, the woman admitted, “I am not a virgin, I’m a mother of three.”

She further disclosed that the father of her children is late.
