- Adeniyi Kayode, who says he has been Anthony Joshua’s driver for three years, has pleaded not guilty to a manslaughter charge, claiming a brake failure caused the fatal accident.
- The court granted him ₦5 million bail as the case continues.

Adeniyi Kayode, a driver identified as a member of British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua’s entourage, has pleaded not guilty to a manslaughter charge following a fatal road accident.
Speaking in court, Kayode denied allegations of reckless driving, insisting that the incident was the result of a mechanical failure rather than negligence. According to him, his vehicle’s brakes failed while he was driving, despite repeated attempts to stop the car.
“I wasn’t overspeeding or driving recklessly. My brake failed. I kept pushing the pedal,” Kayode told the court. “What happened was an accident. I’ve been Anthony Joshua’s driver for three years.”
The case stems from a tragic crash that reportedly led to the death of individuals, prompting prosecutors to file a manslaughter charge against him. Details of the victims and the exact circumstances surrounding the incident were presented during the proceedings.
After hearing his plea, the court granted Kayode bail in the sum of ₦5 million, with additional conditions attached to ensure his appearance for trial. The matter has been adjourned to a later date as investigations and legal processes continue.
The case has attracted public attention due to Kayode’s association with the heavyweight boxing champion, with many closely watching how the court will determine liability in light of his claim of brake failure.
