Nigerian actress Angela Okorie has opened up about her time at the Suleja Correctional Centre, saying the experience significantly changed her perspective on life.
The entertainer was recently held briefly at the facility over a cybercrime matter linked to fellow actress Mercy Johnson. She regained her freedom after spending a few days in custody.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, Angela reflected on how the period behind bars deepened her understanding of resilience, compassion, and humanity. She disclosed that she later returned to the correctional centre not only to reflect on her experience but also to lend support.
During her visit, the actress donated medical supplies and other welfare items, particularly for children born within the facility. She pointed out that many of the children face difficult living conditions and lack access to adequate medication. According to her, witnessing mothers raising their babies in custody left a profound impact on her.
Angela noted that her time there taught her powerful lessons about strength, hope, and endurance. She said the children moved her the most, especially those born after their mothers were incarcerated, stressing that they deserve the same love, care, and opportunities as children outside prison walls.
She further explained that giving has become a personal commitment for her, adding that she uses her own resources and foundation to assist those in need. Encouraging others to adopt generosity as a way of life, Angela said acts of kindness can bring light even in the darkest moments.
