“Ambassador Reno… Tufiakwa”- Charly Boy Rejects Omokri’s Nomination, Vows Never to Visit Embassy

  • Charly Boy has heavily criticized President Bola Tinubu’s nomination of Reno Omokri as an ambassador, stating, “Nigeria don Sawa” (Nigeria has gone sour). Charly Boy argued that the appointment is a “spectacular mockery” and an endorsement of Omokri’s publicized “bigotry against the Igbo.”
  • He questioned how a leader interested in national unity could make such a decision, suggesting that Omokri should have been compensated with a “backyard job” instead of an ambassadorial position.

Legendary Nigerian musician and socialite Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s decision to nominate Reno Omokri for an ambassadorial appointment, calling the nation a “sour nation.”

Charly Boy used his X (formerly Twitter) account to voice his strong disapproval, stating simply in Pidgin English:

“Nigeria don Sawa.”

The outspoken musician argued that nominating Omokri is an endorsement of the Delta-born politician’s widely publicized “bigotry against the Igbo,” which he has displayed on social media.

Charly Boy condemned the nomination as a “spectacular mockery” and “continental joke,” questioning how a President committed to national unity could make such a decision:

“Ambassador Reno Omokri, that’s a spectacular mockery of this country. That’s a continental joke. His lies and general stupidity aside, with the volume of bigotry against the Igbo that Reno Omokri has vomited in the last few months, how can any one who cares about national unity make the clown an Ambassador.”

He further asserted that the decision suggests Tinubu may be endorsing the bigotry Omokri embodies:

“Perhaps Tinubu endorses the filth that issues from Reno’s mouth. Ambassador Reno…Tufiakwa! [God forbid]! I will never go that embassy.”

Charly Boy concluded that the move is “a deliberate gut-punch to national unity.”
