- Dr. Babatunde, a Nigerian doctor, shared his financial struggles on X (formerly Twitter).
- He has been in the medical field for over a decade.
- Despite his experience, he has not achieved significant financial growth.

A Nigerian doctor known on X as Dr Babatunde has sparked widespread reactions after opening up about his financial difficulties, even after more than a decade in the medical field.
Sharing his experience on the social media platform formerly called Twitter, he disclosed that 10 years into his career, he has struggled to achieve meaningful financial growth.
He recalled a recent experience in Abeokuta when his aging Honda Accord suddenly broke down. While stranded by the roadside in the heat, dressed in his professional outfit, he said he was ridiculed by a group of young men driving past in a Lexus.
The doctor explained that his car, a seventh-generation Honda Accord produced between 2003 and 2007, failed him under the scorching sun, turning what should have been a normal day into a humiliating moment.
Reflecting on the situation, Dr Babatunde pointed to the years of intense study, training, and financial commitment required to qualify as a medical doctor. Despite those sacrifices, he expressed frustration that his earnings have remained largely unchanged since he began practicing.
He added that his experience highlights the wider economic realities confronting many professionals in the country individuals who dedicate years to education and career development but see little improvement in their financial circumstances.
His words …
“10 years as a Medical Doctor in Nigeria.
This is what I could afford.
On this particular day some young boys in a Lexus were laughing at me with my tie under the hot sun of Abeokuta.
There was no way on earth my salary and side hustle could get me another car.
We really need to fix Nigeria for Nigerians not just for a few,” he said.
