Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, captured both admiration and laughter as he gave a touching yet lighthearted speech at the wedding of singer and tech entrepreneur Mr Eazi (Tosin Ajibade) and billionaire heiress Temi Otedola in Iceland.
Serving as Chairman of the occasion, Dangote described the Nordic nation as “a very special place,” admitting that it was his first time visiting. With a touch of humor, he revealed that he had been asleep since his arrival but canceled several commitments just to attend, noting that Temi was “a very, very special person to the family.”
Praise for the Groom: “Calm, Humble, and Rare”
Turning to Mr Eazi, Dangote expressed admiration for his humility and entrepreneurial drive. He shared his surprise at the scale of Eazi’s business empire, which spans operations in 18 African countries, describing him as “calm, humble, and a rare blend of musician and businessman.” He added that Temi was indeed “lucky to have such a husband.”
Speaking about Temi Otedola, Dangote highlighted her independence and ambition. He recalled how she had always insisted on carving her own path rather than relying solely on her father’s wealth. He praised her as “entrepreneurial, tough, and determined”—qualities he said would make her a strong partner in marriage.
Offering advice to the new couple, Dangote urged them to resolve conflicts privately, avoid unnecessary outside interference, and grow closer through every challenge. Lightening the mood, he jokingly promised to host “a very big party” to celebrate the birth of their first child within the next year, suggesting possible venues in London, Miami, or even back in Iceland.
“The Greatest Wedding of the Year”
In conclusion, Dangote praised Femi Otedola, Temi’s father, for making the extraordinary celebration possible. He described the ceremony as “the greatest wedding of the year” and “a truly historic celebration.”
