Africa will notice something’s missing if i don’t drop music in a year- Rema

Divine Ikubor better known as Rema, Nigerian music act, has bragged about mading a huge mark in music that he can’t afford to go a year without releasing a song.

He made this statement while speaking during a recent interview, Rema said he has distinguished himself with a unique sound that only him can produce and has been noted for.

According to the Mavin/Jonzing Records artiste, if he chooses not to release a song in one year, the entire continent would notice that something is missing.

Rema boasted that such a void caused by his absence is because of the bold statement his sound has made in the industry.

He said; “I’ve distinguished myself. If I don’t drop music for a year, it will be obvious in Africa that something is missing. That’s how bold a statement my sound has made.”

In a related news, award winning singer Rema is undoubtedly taking Nigeria music globally. Rema has given credit to D’Prince for seeing something in him he never knew was there.

Rema, who is signed to Jonzing Records, said that he was into rap when his boss, D’Prince scouted him and gave him a record deal.

The ‘Calm Down’crooner revealed that the singer and music executive convinced him to switch from rap music to Afrobeats.

He made this known while granting an interview on America’s Q 99.7 Atlanta FM.

According to him, when D’Prince asked him to adopt Afrobeats genre, he expressed reservations and stated that he is a rapper.

But the record label founder told Rema that he likes his voice and he felt that it would be appealing on Afrobeats.

He urged the Dumebi hitmaker to give it a try and when he did, he realised that D’Prince was right about him being a good fit for the genre.

Rema said; “D’Prince told me that he likes my voice, and he feels like I’m gonna sound really good on Afrobeats. I told him I don’t really do Afrobeat, I just rap, so he said ‘Give it a try’.”

The budding singer has been shutting down America with his sold-out concerts.
