The Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro’s tentative roster for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations has been made public by the Confederation of African Football.
The list was verified by CAF and posted on its website on Wednesday.
It is anticipated that Peseiro would submit his final squad to the CAF prior to the deadline of January 3.
Three homegrown players are on the list: Obasogie Amas (Bendel Insurance), Christian Nwoke (Sporting Lagos FC), and Ojo Oluwasegun (Enyimba FC).
The AFCON’s CAF Organising Committee has decided that each of the 24 countries may field a final roster of 27 players, which is four more than the initial 23 from previous competitions.
The four extra players on the final list can choose not to register.
“In case a team submits a final squad of between 24 and 27 players, only 23 of them will be available for selection for each match during the tournament.
“Meanwhile, a player in the final squad can only be replaced after a serious injury no less than 24 hours before the team’s first match following the approval of the medical certificate by the CAF Medical Committee,” the information obtained on the CAF website read.
The final competition will be held in the Ivorian cities of Abidjan, Bouake, Korhogo, San Pedro, and Yamoussoukro from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
