The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one of two brothers accused of killing their father in a shocking incident that has unsettled residents of Numan Local Government Area.
The suspect, David ThankGod, aged 25, was apprehended in Jalingo, Taraba State, while his younger brother, Joshua ThankGod, 23, is currently on the run. Police authorities have launched a manhunt to locate and arrest the fleeing suspect.
Confirming the arrest on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, told SaharaReporters that David was tracked and picked up outside Adamawa State.
“He was picked up in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend Joshua,” Nguroje said.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of January 3, 2026, in Numan town, when the two brothers allegedly strangled their father, Ogar ThankGod, a well-known businessman in the area. The attack took place at the family residence in the Gwe-da-Mallam area.
Police investigations revealed that the brothers had recently returned from Lagos after being invited home by their sister to help settle a prolonged family dispute.
“The matter was already a police case before this unfortunate incident,” SP Nguroje disclosed.
The killing has thrown the community into deep shock, with residents describing it as one of the most disturbing family-related crimes in recent times. Authorities say investigations are ongoing and have assured the public that the remaining suspect will be brought to justice.
