The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has placed Nollywood actress Shirley Igwe on indefinite suspension following allegations of physical assault against a crew member during a film production.

Reports claim that Igwe allegedly slapped a member of the Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria (CDGN) while on set. The incident, which sparked widespread concern, prompted the AGN to take swift disciplinary action in line with its code of conduct for members.

In an official statement addressed to both state chapter chairmen and the national leadership, the Guild described Igwe’s actions as “violent and undisciplined,” adding that such behavior could damage the reputation and integrity of the acting profession. As a result, the Guild announced that Igwe would remain suspended pending the outcome of further investigations into the matter.

To maintain industry standards and discipline, the AGN has also directed its members to avoid participating in any film project that includes Igwe during the suspension period. The organization emphasized its commitment to fostering a respectful and professional environment on set and noted that disciplinary measures are essential to preserving the dignity of the creative industry.

Further updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
