Businessman Isaac Fayose has reacted to First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s appeal urging music stars Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake to use some of the money they spend on luxury cars to support the less privileged, arguing that elected officials should also be held to the same standard.

The First Lady had reportedly said the burden of caring for vulnerable Nigerians is enormous and encouraged the Afrobeats stars to contribute more to charitable causes in the country.

Responding to the remarks, Fayose questioned why state governors were not being asked to make similar commitments using public resources.

“I disagree with First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s remarks that Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake should use the money they spend on luxury cars for charity in Nigeria.

“What about our governors? What are they doing with public funds? Why can’t APC state governors set aside ₦500 million every month to support poor people in their respective states?

“Why did you ask them to purchase SUVs for APC women leaders while many Nigerians across the country continue to struggle with poverty?”
