Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has sparked conversations online following her recent comments about men and their approach to telling lies.

During an episode of MENtality with Ebuka, hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Makinwa shared her opinion that many men are not skilled at hiding the truth because they often fail to maintain consistency in their stories.

The media personality explained that some men believe a lie can become accepted as reality if the person they are deceiving never discovers the truth behind it.

According to her, this mindset is one of the reasons their lies are often exposed, as they do not put enough thought into keeping their stories consistent.

“This is what I’ve always said from time immemorial. I say this to my guy friends a lot. Men are not that great at liars. They think, ‘If I tell you this, it can become your truth if you never find out the other side,” she said.

Makinwa further stated that one major weakness she notices in men’s lies is their inability to remember what they previously said.

She argued that when questioned about the same issue after some time, many men may give a different response, revealing the inconsistency in their earlier claims.

“The problem with a man is that men don’t even think about it. They lie like we’re st¥pid. They don’t even think about it. You always know when they’re lying,” she added.

The media personality also compared the way men and women approach dishonesty, claiming that women often put more thought into their words before telling a lie.

“If you ask the same man in the next three weeks, he will say something different. But a woman, before she tells you that lie, it’s actually low-key disrespectful because she has thought about it,” Makinwa said.

Her comments have since generated mixed reactions from social media users, with some agreeing with her perspective while others debated her generalization about men and women.
