Afrobeats star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has paid tribute to billionaire entrepreneur Tony Elumelu following the announcement of his retirement as Group Chairman of United Bank for Africa.

Davido joined several prominent Nigerians in celebrating Elumelu’s remarkable leadership journey after the banking executive revealed plans to step down from the position.

The renowned businessman disclosed that he will officially conclude his tenure as Group Chairman of UBA on August 21, 2026. His departure comes in line with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s regulatory requirement, which limits non-executive directors to a maximum tenure of 12 years.

Announcing the transition on his Instagram page, Elumelu reflected on his years of service and expressed confidence in the institution’s future leadership. He also confirmed that the Board had selected veteran banking executive and long-serving non-executive director Emmanuel N. Nnorom as his successor.

Sharing the news, Elumelu wrote:

“After my 12-year run as Group Chair, the Board elected Emmanuel Nnorom as incoming Chair of @ubagroup today. Leadership is not about holding onto a position, but knowing when an institution is ready for the next chapter.”

Reacting to the announcement, Davido left a brief but heartfelt message in the comment section, expressing admiration for the outgoing chairman.

The award-winning singer wrote: “NAH MAN U BE.”

The comment quickly attracted attention from fans, with many interpreting it as a show of respect for Elumelu’s contribution to the banking sector and his legacy of leadership.
