- Advocates for teaching life skills to children of all genders.

The First Lady of Imo State, Chioma Uzodimma, has sparked conversations online after sharing her views on gender roles in the kitchen and the importance of teaching children life skills regardless of their gender.
Speaking on the subject of family responsibilities, Chioma Uzodimma stressed that cooking should not be seen as a duty reserved exclusively for women. According to her, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a husband preparing meals for his family when necessary.
She said, “There is nothing wrong with a husband cooking for the family. Women should also teach both their sons and daughters how to cook. There is no rule that says only women should cook for the family.”
Her remarks challenge the traditional belief held in some homes that cooking is strictly a woman’s responsibility. The First Lady emphasized that both boys and girls should be equipped with basic life skills, including cooking, to help them become independent and responsible adults.
The statement has generated mixed reactions on social media, with many users agreeing that cooking is an essential skill that should not be limited by gender. Supporters argued that modern families thrive when responsibilities are shared and that teaching sons how to cook prepares them for life and future family responsibilities.
