- Daniel Regha has criticised the Ooni of Ife for hosting and honouring Baba Ijesha with gifts and a chieftaincy title despite the actor’s previous conviction.
- According to Regha, celebrating individuals with such histories sends the wrong message and encourages the reward of bad behaviour.

Popular social media critic and internet personality Daniel Regha has criticised the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, over the monarch’s decision to host and honour Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha despite his past conviction.
The criticism follows Baba Ijesha’s recent visit to the Ooni’s palace alongside his wife, where the monarch welcomed the couple warmly, presented them with gifts, including a brand-new car, and conferred a chieftaincy title on the actor.
According to Baba Ijesha, he was installed as “Baba Awada Konge Oduwa, Ile Ife, Ile Oodua.”
Reacting via his X (formerly Twitter) account, Daniel Regha described the development as a reflection of a society that rewards bad behaviour rather than holding people accountable for their actions.
“The Ooni of Ife hosting and honouring someone like Baba Ijesha with a chieftaincy title plus gifts despite being a convicted pedophile, is exactly what is wrong with society today. We keep rewarding bad behaviour.”
Baba Ijesha was convicted in 2022 after being found guilty on charges related to the sexual assault of a minor. The case stemmed from allegations made in 2021 by comedienne Princess, who accused the actor of sexually assaulting her 14-year-old foster child.
