“This Is Wrong”- Doris Ogala Reacts As Court Remands Sowore In Kuje

  • Nollywood actress Doris Ogala is the AAC governorship candidate for Abia State in the 2027 elections.
  • She has responded to the remand of activist Omoyele Sowore at Kuje Prison.
  • Sowore was ordered to be held at Kuje Custodial Centre by Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Nollywood actress and African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for Abia State in the 2027 elections, Doris Ogala, has reacted following the remand of activist Omoyele Sowore at Kuje Prison.

On Monday, June 22, Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered that Sowore be held at the Kuje Custodial Centre after his bail was revoked last week.

The court also turned down Sowore’s request asking the trial judge to withdraw from the case over claims of bias.

Sowore, who is also the AAC presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, is currently being prosecuted by the Department of State Services (DSS) on cybercrime allegations linked to a social media post in which he allegedly referred to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as “a criminal.”

In his ruling, Justice Umar directed that the activist remain in custody pending the hearing of his application challenging the bail revocation and the issuance of a bench warrant against him.

The case was subsequently adjourned to June 24, 2026, for the hearing of the motion.

After the court sitting, Sowore maintained that he was ready for imprisonment and vowed to continue his activism despite the ruling.

He said:

“I’m going to prison to keep mobilising our people. The court was told by the prosecution that they must insist on sending me to Kuje Prison until Wednesday. I came prepared. I even brought my prison bag.”

The activist also insisted that the situation was part of a larger struggle, adding that sacrifices must be made for the progress of the country.

“All these are happening for a good reason. Somebody must make sacrifices that will benefit this country.”

Reacting outside the courtroom, Doris Ogala posted a video on her Instagram page in which she criticised the decision, claiming it was premeditated and stressing that Sowore was unafraid of imprisonment.

She said in the video:

“They already planned this, and they knew they were going to do this, but Sowore is not afraid to go to Kuje prison.”

In her caption, she wrote:

“Imagine remanding @yelesho to Kuje prison. Something they already planned to do. We are finished in this country. Our judicial system has failed us.”

In another clip, the actress, who previously made headlines over a public dispute with pastor Chris Okafor, further expressed disappointment over the development.

She stated:

“This is totally wrong. The judicial system has failed us in Nigeria. They already planned to take him to Kuje, we only came here to finish the drama.”
