Nigerian media personality Yeni Kuti has reacted to the news that fashion designer CEO Luminee has welcomed a child with Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha.
The announcement, which surfaced on June 15, sparked widespread reactions online, with many social media users revisiting the actor’s past legal issues and the timing of his release from prison.
Speaking during an appearance on TVC Entertainment, the daughter of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti expressed support for Luminee and downplayed the controversy surrounding the development.
Yeni, who revealed that she has a personal relationship with the designer, noted that Luminee once made her outfit for her 60th birthday celebration.
“I see nothing wrong with it. I actually know her, she made my 60th dress for my birthday,” she said.
She also addressed Baba Ijesha’s conviction and release, pointing out that the actor reportedly maintained his innocence after completing his jail term.
According to her, this may have influenced Luminee’s perception and decision to trust him.
“After the guy was jailed, he still came out and denied the offence. So he might have denied it to Luminee and she believed him and she is entitled to believe him if she wants,” she added.
Her comments reflect the sensitive public debate surrounding personal relationships that are tied to past legal controversies, as well as the differing opinions the baby news has continued to generate online.
