A man identified as a member of the Nigeria Police Force has stirred controversy online after a video surfaced showing him expressing anger over the condition of police officers in the country while also making threatening comments directed at civilians.

The video, which has gone viral on X, captured the officer lamenting the hardship faced by personnel in the force. He accused authorities of abandoning officers despite the dangers associated with their job.

Speaking in the clip, he warned that anyone who records him while on duty could face consequences, adding that senior officers who issue commands are often not the ones who suffer the outcome.

“Any day wey I dey work duty as an officer, make somebody video me, that oga wey give una order go be the one to bury una. Twenty-six years here we dey suffer every day,” he said.

The officer also complained about the poor welfare system within the police force, claiming that many officers struggle to provide basic needs for themselves due to lack of support from the authorities. According to him, families of officers who die in active service are often neglected.

Despite his criticism, he praised the current Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, for allegedly taking steps to improve compensation and welfare packages for relatives of fallen officers.

“Uniform una no fit buy, nothing una fit do for us. If not for this new IG wey start amending things and giving fallen police officers’ families their benefits. Monkey dey work, baboon dey chop,” he added.

The viral clip has generated widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians condemning the officer’s threatening statements and demanding disciplinary action against him.

The incident has further reignited debates surrounding police welfare, accountability, and the level of trust between security agencies and the public in Nigeria.
