A Nigerian man has stirred conversations online after expressing anger over his wife’s decision to buy a cow for her pastor despite allegedly never making such a gesture toward him.
The incident, which surfaced in a viral video, quickly generated mixed reactions on social media, with many Nigerians debating whether the husband’s frustration was justified.
Reacting to the situation, social commentator Daniel Regha stated that the husband’s feelings were understandable depending on the purpose of the gift.
“The man’s reaction is very valid. If the wife bought the cow for church activities that will be used for cooking, that’s excusable and only if the family is financially stable. But gifting it to a Man of God is a big no.”
He added:
“It doesn’t matter if it’s her money or not.”
Some users, however, defended the woman, arguing that people are free to spend their money as they choose.
@Ke_lly_chi wrote:
“Says a husband that doesn’t know how much his wife’s pants cost.”
Others blamed excessive devotion to religious leaders for creating tension in some marriages.
@UStwts__ commented:
“The worst type of Nigerian, male or female, is the one that regards their pastor or imam like a God and doesn’t extend any reverence to their own partner.”
Another user, @IDM_001, criticized women who allegedly show more respect to pastors than their husbands.
“Same women go dey kneel down call their pastor daddy but dey call their husband by their name.”
Some social media users turned the situation into humor.
@DJStyles_e joked:
“Oga kill that cow and cut all the good part of the meat. Make she go give am sticks and bones.”
Meanwhile, @Inkspiration01 defended the pastor’s role in the woman’s life, writing:
“The pastor is her spiritual father, you are her husband.”
Another commenter, @joshpve, added humor to the debate.
“Make she kukuma pack go pastor house oo.”
