Nollywood actress and evangelist, Tonto Dikeh, has shared faith-based reflections on how poor conduct and lack of discipline can cost people meaningful relationships and life-changing opportunities.
During a prayer session, she stressed that access to people, influence, and opportunities should be treated as a privilege rather than a right, warning that entitlement and boundary-crossing could damage valuable connections.
“Access is a privilege, not an entitlement,” she said.
Recalling lessons from her upbringing, Dikeh explained that she deliberately maintained emotional and personal boundaries with people she valued, not out of pride but as a form of discipline.
“I learned something early: the more I loved and respected you, the more careful I became around you. I kept my distance, not out of pride, but out of discipline. I didn’t want to misuse the privilege of access. For the longest time, I thought it made me strange, maybe even ‘too different’ or weird,” she shared.
The mother of one also revealed that this approach later paid off when she received a major career-defining opportunity.
“I landed a job that changed my life, my first billion from a single deal. The truth? I wasn’t the most qualified. So I had to ask why me?” she wrote.
According to her, the deal was offered by a highly influential African figure who said her respect for boundaries over the years made her stand out.
“The contractor, who happens to be a very powerful figure in Africa, said something I’ll never forget: ‘T, I’ve known you for years. Out of everyone around me, you’re one of the very few I could call on at any time, but you never took advantage of that. You never crossed boundaries,’” she added.
