A 41-year-old Nigerian woman has returned home after surviving an alleged trafficking and labour exploitation ordeal in Cairo, Egypt.
The woman, whose identity was not disclosed, recounted the harsh conditions she faced while working abroad, describing long hours of labour and little opportunity to rest.
“My experience in Cairo, Egypt was very bad, we work from 9am to 4am, we washed plates, do laundries and dishes, wash all the walls and they don’t allow us rest in the middle,” she said.
According to her account, the workload was intense and included household chores that lasted deep into the night. She also claimed that workers were denied breaks despite the demanding schedule.
Advocates have repeatedly warned Nigerians to verify job offers abroad and use legal migration channels, as many individuals have reportedly fallen victim to false promises and abusive working conditions.
