Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has opened up about his early struggles, revealing that he once worked at a packaging facility in Ikorodu owned by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote.
In an interview on Echo Room, the music star said he earned ₦20,000 monthly at the time and had no other source of income. He described the period as challenging, noting that life was far from easy then.
According to him, the job played a role in shaping his mindset and personal growth, despite the difficulties he faced.
Bella Shmurda said he looks back on the experience with gratitude rather than regret, explaining that it contributed to his journey and development.
“I was collecting ₦20,000 per month, and that was all I had. No side hustle, nothing else. It wasn’t easy, but it was an experience for me, and I feel like those are the things I remember now,” he shared.
The singer, who has since gained widespread fame with hit songs and international recognition, added that his time at the factory serves as a reminder of how far he has progressed in life.
