Pastor Adeboye Responds to Critics

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has recounted how a seemingly simple request for a personal house eventually led to the establishment of Redemption City along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

According to the cleric, his initial prayer was for a house, but he said God responded in a far bigger way by promising him an entire city instead of a single residence. Today, that vision has grown into a large, peaceful, and well-organized community.

He noted that when he first shared what he believed was God’s response with his followers, many of them dismissed it and laughed at the idea. However, he pointed out that the same people who once doubted him are now residents of the city and beneficiaries of its development.

“Many years ago, I said, ‘Father, please build me a house,’ but He replied, ‘Don’t ask for a house, I have decided to build you a city.’ When I told my people, they laughed, but they are not laughing anymore because many of them now have houses there,” he said.

Pastor Adeboye also highlighted the uniqueness of Redemption City, describing it as a place with consistent water supply, uninterrupted electricity, and a safe environment where residents can move freely at night without fear. He added that the community is filled with people of faith, contributing to its calm and secure atmosphere.

@ReformerOluseun:”A city where water never goes off and there’s light 24/7. A city where you can still walk about in the night safely with all the news going on. But you keep praying to God to touch the heart of our politicians to enjoy a country with these basic amenities instead of sharing the knowledge with the politicians as they are close to you.”

@twee_twei:”When you’re walking around in the midnight in camp, there is this confidence you feel that the Holy Spirits are with you.”

@tommy4chelsea:”This explains why he doesn’t really care what happens in other parts of the country anymore.”

@Slatt_el:”And how many of baba church members can even afford a place in this city!!”

@idneroboy03:”A city that an average RCCG member cant live in, cant get education, but they all contributed to building up the city. A city that was built by the poor Nigerians but you cant speak up for them when the APC government try oppressing them. A selfish man you are.”
