Court Indicts Nurse Over Mohbad’s Death, Faults Father and Wunmi for Negligence

A fresh twist has emerged in the ongoing controversy surrounding the family of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, as his widow, Wunmi Aloba, has responded to her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, over the unresolved DNA dispute involving their son, Liam.

Wunmi, in a strongly worded reaction, insisted that Mohbad’s father must comply with existing court directives regarding the DNA test. She maintained that legal procedures must be followed and warned that failure to do so could prolong the case for years in court.

She also reiterated that she has always supported the idea of a DNA test, contrary to claims made by Mohbad’s father. According to her, efforts were made privately to clarify her position, but those attempts were reportedly ignored. She further dismissed allegations that she selected an unverified hospital for the procedure, describing the claim as false.

She said, “I’ll keep proving that your actions won’t affect me. What the court asked you to do, beg me. Refusing to comply with court orders means we’re in for a long battle. I’m glad you finally acknowledged you have no power over Liam. Whether it’s the High Court, Ikeja, or Appeal Court, the truth remains unchanged.”

Her reaction comes shortly after Baba Mohbad appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the international community for help in facilitating a DNA test on his grandson.

Nearly three years after Mohbad’s passing, his body remains in the morgue, as burial arrangements continue to be delayed due to the ongoing paternity dispute. Although a court had ordered that DNA samples be collected, the process has been slowed by logistical issues and disagreements between both sides.

In a viral video, Joseph Aloba expressed frustration, warning that burying his son without resolving the paternity question could make it impossible to determine the child’s true identity in the future.

The dispute between both parties continues to generate widespread public attention, as many call for a resolution that will bring closure to the family and allow the late singer to finally be laid to rest.
