Pastor David Ibiyeomie, founder of Salvation Ministries, has voiced serious concern over the increasing attacks on Christians in Nigeria, urging believers to take proactive steps to safeguard themselves if the government fails to act.

The pastor’s warning comes in the wake of a surge in violent incidents targeting churches, worshippers, and Christian communities, particularly in the northern part of the country, which has left many citizens fearful.

During a recent sermon, Ibiyeomie highlighted the importance of Christians taking personal responsibility for their safety, citing Israel as an example of a nation that survived despite being surrounded by adversaries.

He emphasized that when government protection is lacking, self-defense may become necessary. “The killings of Christians in Nigeria must end. Believers need to be alert. Israel is a small country, yet they did not allow their enemies to destroy them. If the authorities cannot protect you, you must take steps to defend yourself. Even something as simple as a walking stick can help,” he stated.

Ibiyeomie pointed out that Israel’s survival was largely due to its vigilance and preparedness, encouraging Nigerian Christians to adopt a similar mindset to ensure their own safety.

His statements reflect growing frustration among religious leaders over what they perceive as inadequate governmental measures to prevent attacks on churches and believers.
